Cancellation & Refund Policy
Last updated 15 October 2026
1. Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law
Our services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law (Schedule 2 of the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth)), which applies in Victoria through the Australian Consumer Law and Fair Trading Act 2012 (Vic). Services must be provided with due care and skill, be fit for purpose and be delivered within a reasonable time.
If a lesson has a major failure, you are entitled to a refund or a replacement lesson, at your choice. Nothing in this policy limits those rights.
2. Cancelling or rescheduling a lesson
- 24 hours or more before your lesson: cancel free of charge from your learner dashboard. Any amount paid is refunded in full, or a package lesson is returned to your package.
- Less than 24 hours before your lesson: online cancellation closes. Contact us and we'll consider the circumstances. A late cancellation may be charged up to the full lesson fee, as your instructor has reserved that time.
3. No-shows and lessons that can't go ahead
If you're not at the pickup point within 15 minutes of the start time, or can't drive (for example, no valid learner permit with you, or unfit to drive), the lesson may be marked as a no-show and charged in full.
Your instructor may end a lesson early if continuing would be unsafe. We'll treat these situations fairly and case by case.
4. If your instructor or Drive Local cancels
If we cancel because of illness, vehicle breakdown, dangerous weather or another reason within our control or theirs, you can choose a free rescheduled lesson or a full refund. A package lesson is returned to your package.
5. Lesson packages and drive test bundles
- Unused package lessons can be refunded on request, at the pro-rata value actually paid (any package discount is not applied to lessons already used).
- VicRoads drive test bookings: test fees are paid to VicRoads and are subject to VicRoads' own rules. Changes to a test-day car hire booking need at least 2 business days' notice, otherwise the warm-up lesson and car hire may be charged.
- If a test is cancelled by VicRoads or can't proceed because of our vehicle, the test-day package fee is refunded or rebooked at no cost.
6. Promo codes and gift vouchers
Promo codes have no cash value. If a discounted lesson is refunded, the refund is the amount you actually paid. A promo code used on a cancelled lesson may be restored if it hasn't expired.
7. How refunds are paid
Approved refunds go back to the original payment method, or by bank transfer for payments made that way, normally within 10 business days.
8. Questions or complaints
Please contact us first so we can fix it. If we can't resolve it, you can contact Consumer Affairs Victoria (consumer.vic.gov.au, 1300 55 81 81).
This policy is general information and does not limit any rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law or other Australian or Victorian law.
